Reinvention seems synonymous with change, and for some people change can be scary.
When I heard Texas Children’s was changing the role of nursing by adding more staff to
help those of us at the bedside while helping us grow in our roles through educational
and advancement opportunities, I knew it was the right change for me since I was already
enrolled in classes. I have encouraged many of my co-workers to go back to school with
me to earn our Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) degrees. Those who have joined me
often say, “If Della can do it, I can too.” After all, I am only 63 years young.
