Seven interdependent councils assume accountability for the professional nursing practice
delivered at Texas Children’s. Additionally, there are four committees that support the
councils in achieving their designated purposes and upholding their responsibilities. Each
unit also has its own unit-based quality practice committee with a chair who is a member
of the departmental Quality Practice Council. All councils and committees are charged
with maximizing staff nurse participation. Council and committee memberships are
reviewed to ensure they are diverse and representative of the organization’s various shifts,
units, tenure and services.
