When I joined Texas Children’s, I was excited to learn about the committees available for
nursing staff members. I’ve worked on the practice council, staff operations committee as
well as EXCEL, the clinical ladder program for nurses that rewards those who go above
and beyond in their roles. It’s given me a great opportunity to make a difference at the
bedside, help our organization better understand the care we give every day and impact
the work of nurses throughout the organization. As I participated on more projects within
the unit, it opened doors to hospital-wide activities, which expanded my professional circle
and increased opportunities for additional meaningful projects. I know my voice is heard,
and decisions are made according to what matters to the caregivers at the bedside.
