A nod to the unsung heroes
Myrna Fisch happily gives so much for sick children — her time, her talents and, most
recently, a big financial boost to the men and women who nurse Texas Children’s patients
back to health.
The Department of Nursing was the most recent recipient of Fisch’s philanthropic
generosity. Fisch gifted the department with funds for educational and professional
development programs geared toward improving outcomes.
“Nurses give so selflessly and with so much love,”
Fisch said.
“They really are the unsung heroes of the
hospital. I appreciate that these funds will go toward
the education and training of the nurses, and that will
ultimately benefit the children.”
Fisch also gifts her time — she’s the coordinator of Radio Lollipop, a fully-equipped, on-site
radio station that broadcasts to the patients at Texas Children’s Hospital. Radio Lollipop
gives patients a voice and a choice during their hospital stay, a time when they may have
few pleasant choices.
