multidisciplinary care
In addition to our team of specialists focused on histiocytosis,
patients may see neurologists, radiologists, endocrinologists,
orthopedic surgeons, pathologists and many other clinical and
social specialists in order to receive the best possible care.
research
With the dramatic growth of the Histiocytosis Program, we have
developed and expanded the number of clinical trials of innovative
therapies to treat histiocytosis conditions. Our extensive clinical
experience, coupled with the basic research studies we design
with biopsy and other tissue samples, provides the opportunity
for us to establish clinical and biologic correlations that no
other center in the world can. Our research focuses on genetic
changes in cells of the immune system that lead to LCH and
related disorders. We have built a program to discover the
causes of these conditions in order to expedite development
of more effective and innovative therapies.
The Histiocytosis Program has several active grants from the
National Cancer Institute, the Histiocytosis Association of
America, the American Society of Hematology and the American
Society for Clinical Oncology.
